Hello!!! Every army needs support -even the best. The AA-guns provide cover and are developing with light speed. And they canbe used as multi-purpose weapon. So, which is your favourite flak gun. Write your oppinion and post a picture if you want.

40mm Bofors. Outstanding in WW2, and still going strong.

There wasn't a lot to choose between weapons in other calibres, but the Bofors stood out among the heavy automatics.

This article on my (german) website is about german aa-guns including the 5 cm and 5,5 cm aa-guns (with pictures).

The 4 cm Bofors was used in almost every army during the war. Some used them in a modified version, others just copied it. Well, that indicates, that it was a verrrrrry good weapon.

My favorite aa-gun is the 8,8 cm Flak 41. Very good power against tanks and aircraft in larger hights. Very potent ammo. I just love it....

Thank you Tom. :)
And btw, on that page the picture of 4 cm Flak 28 (40mm Bofors..) the right one is not in German use, but in Finnish use and the pic was taken somewhere in summer of 1944 IIRC.

And what comes to the 88, well it is a legend, you cant compare it to others and EVERYBODY LOVES IT.

Ironically, its fame is mainly down to its use in the AT role, for which it was not designed. As an AA gun, it was fine but nothing special. The British 3.7 inch was at least as good.

I personally would go with the 'Vierling" <>The Four barrelled 20mm cannon.
