This weekend the magnificent "Batterie Fjell" had open! (only 1 day each year) The fort was once equipped with one of the Gneisenau turrets. The turret was scrapped in the 50`s, but the site is still filled with loads of interesting stuff and some really rare regelbau bunkers!

Wow ! beautiful and well preserved. 105's on a 88mm support or table like mounts. I had thought that the 105 would of had a barrel almost 1/3rd longer like the AA pieces at Mersburg and Leipzig.

I guess those would be the SKC/33 version??(same found on most German warships)
I haven`t found much on this type, but it might be some kind of special fortress gun? As you can see, it was not moveable at all, so it`s either a early shipversion (Maybe submarine?) or for fortress use.....

The mount is not at all very tall, in fact it does not appear for 8.8.cm flak though I could be wrong. Fortress wepaons they have to be with your fine scans of blown fortress emplacements. Short barrels for tight spaces is what appears to me, so no air to air defences but for ground only. I wish I knew my artillery pieces better. Wonder if this could of been a Kriegsmarine fit ?

Just found that this type was used as main gun on most torpedo boats and some submarines. This means that it is a Kriegsmarine gun. But I also know for sure that the 4 guns at this fortress was used as AA.
The unit which operated them was called Marine FLAK abt.802 and were a part of "Marine Flakgruppen kommando Bergen"
Several other places, like Trondheim also had the SKC/32 as a part of their AA weaponory.....
But I agree that the barrel seems like it was meant for something else.
I`ll try to dig more into it!

Most interesting Erik. I am familiar with the Marine title of that unit. Have you found displayed any 88mm's with the same shorter mountings ?

I had never been up there before so actually I don`t know......
A part of the area is used as a naval radar site, and they are not to happy with 1000 enthusiasts with cameras too often8)
I think that the dates are decided by the navy.......

For the second time, last week I had the pleasure to visit this "goldmine" for bunker freaks once more
This place is really filled with regelbau bunkers, some of them very well preserved and in really good shape!

Erik, that M19 mortar bunker you show here, does it still have the mortar fitted to it or has it been scrapped?
