The only 21Cm I can find, is the "Lange 21cm Mörser" built by Krupp in 1916.... Do you think this could be it?

We have three types of 21 cm in the German Army in the 1st WW:

The 21 cm lange Mörser (Howitzer), that entered service in 1916
Calibre: 21,1 cm
Barrel lenght: 232 cm
Weight in action: 6.680 Kg
Maximum elevation: 70º
Traverse: 4º
Muzzle velocity: 393 m/s
Shell weight: 113 Kg
Maximum range: 11.100 m

The 21 cm SK L/40 "Peter Adalbert", a Railway Gun (old naval)
Calibre: 20,9 cm
Weight in action 70.000 Kg
Maximum elevation: 45º
Traverse: 0º
Muzzle velocity: 780 m/s
Shell weight: 115 Kg
Maximum range: 25.500 m

The 21 cm Kaiser Wilhelm Geschutz (Gun), (known as the Paris Gun)entered service in 1918
Calibre: 21 cm
Barrel length: 35,70 m
Weight in action 750.000 Kg
Maximum elevation: 55º
Traverse: 360º
Muzzle velocity: 1.550 m/s
Shell weight: 119,7 Kg
Maximum range: 122.300 m

Thats is all the information I know, and only the first of the three was used in the 2 WW.

Krupp 210H10

Post by Juha Tompuri » 16 Sep 2002 22:51

Dear mr Pena

Actually we`re "talking" about a same weapon. The Krupp 210mm mod 1910 is the original one and for instance "my" howitzer is just an improved (export) version of it. The data is very similar too:

Caliber 211mm
Barrel lenght 14,5cal
Shell weight 113 and 120 kg
muzzle velocity 227 or 394m/s
Range 10,2 km
Elevation +6- +70 degrees
Traverse +/- 4 degrees
W-in action 7530 kg

Thanks for everyone for the answers so far. I think that Victor said in one old thread about artillery that Romanian army had 210mm model 1916 Krupp artillery pieces - so I tried to figure out what guns could these have been...

Best Regards,

Mait.
