#1

Post by Valtoro » 11 Jul 2005, 23:40

is this a typical Tobruk bunker?
At least it does have the same Room Arrangment as this one:
http://www.luftschutz-bunker.de/images/ ... tobruk.htm

The original wooden door is still intact!.

Hallo Valtoro

There are so many different ringstanden ,
with all other interieur forms and also the
entrances in different places.
Maybe you have a sketh of the tobruk, so
we can see what form it has.

Thanks for your advice, here's some more Pictures of this Tobruk(?) bunker. At least it does look very similar to one linked in my first post :)

And here's one Bunker whose pourpuse I'm not sure about. It has two Entrances, one temporary blocked, and the other one heavily modified (made larger) Since it was used as a workshop after the War, the interior was also very modified. The modifications included that the owners teared down a long rectangular wall/room leading in from the blocked Entrance. The Bunker also have Steel hoists in the Roof and a another object hanging from the wall that *could* be original.

Hello Valtoro

Your Tobruk looks like a Ringstand 58c , for the
V.F.bunker is does not look as a standard V.F. type .
Nice numbers above the entance of the bunker.

Hello jopaerya!
Thanks again for picture and information! Do you know if the Ringstand 58c was a very common used bunker in this part of Europe? And could the other bunker be some sort of storage or First aid bunker, since it has no scharten?

Regarding the "OT 1943" it's actually found on 3-4 other bunkers in the same area!

Hi Valtoro

According to the Organisation Todt from 1942 till 1944 there were

Lappland 39 ringstanden
Nord Norge 134 ringstanden
Mid Norge 160 ringstanden
South Norge 230 ringstanden

On the buildingprogramlist from 1944 and 1945 there were a lot of
58c planned , for your bunker it looks like a personel bunker , but it
could also have a other function.

jopaerya,

Thanks for the numbers regarding the 58c, do you have a source where those numbers are listed, so I can link it to later if needed? :)

regards,
Valtoro.

Hi Valtoro

The info is from the book Tyske kystfort i Norge
page 108 from J.E. Fjortoft and from the O.T. Wiking .

The Vf personell bunker looks similar to the ones found a couple of other places around there.
When we finally summarize what we saw over there, I can provide some measuremenst you could use for a cross check.....

As for the Tobruk, I agree with Jos on the 58c. This is by far the most common type in Norway.

Thanks for the source. It's impossible to get that holy grail (read "Tyske kystfort i Norge")... :?

Hi,
In my opinion Ringstands is one of the most complex and diverse subjects in the history of fortfications during WW II. I have scratched the surface here:
http://www.gyges.dk/Ringstande.htm
it should provide a baseline to what's "normal", but there are multiple variations.
