Hello

For the difference in the shafts of the 15 cm S.K.C/28 in Dreh.L.C/34 , it's just like the 28 cm turrets ( Gneisenau )
there were low turrets and high turrets , see also the M 219 ( 2 levels ) and the M 184 ( one level ) .

For the location on Stril documents only Petsamo one turret was build and a other in buildingproces , Scheveningen-
Nord was never build maybe they were transferred to Zandddijk . For Emmanuel the turrets was not planned in Le Havre but on the other side of the Seine at Hennequeville near Trouville .

Regards Jos

Hello
Here is the photo of Petsamo 2x 15cm turret

It's from book 'Liberation of the Eastern Finnmark' by A.A.Gorter, W.T.Gorter, M.N.Suprun
Looks like turret wasn't complete before russians come...

Hello Deadpixels

Thanks for bringing the pixels of the photo to live , great picture . 8-)
You are right the gun was not 100% ready , but maybe it could fire without the armor plating .

Yes, of course.
Seems to me, readiness of this turret was high enough - I remember elevators and other equipment in the shaft 8-)

Hello

This looks more like the 15 cm. Gneisenau turret, like Stevnsfortet, earlier Fanø?

Re the question of the 150 MM turret at Petsamo being in firing condition, the picture shoen in post by deadpixels.ru » 23 Dec 2009, 21:48, clearly shows projectiles in the rear of the turret. They would hardly be there unless the guns were operational.

The first twin turret at Petsamo was in the prosess of beeing made operational, but received a hit from Russian batteries at the Rybachiy peninsula. Not extensive damage to the gun, but repairs had to be done before the armour plates could be mounted on the gun. This never came to be, and the turret was never completed before the battery crew was evacuated by boat in 1944.

Remember that the 15 cm Turret batteries at Sylt and Borkum were completed and operational from Autumn 1940. The Fanö battery and one turret in Holland was completed towards the end of the war. The guns with camouflage girders must be Sylt or Borkum.

Thanks a lot for posting this doc Jos!..
Remarkable that refurbishing Schev. Nord with modern guns had a higher priority than Falga (typo, should be Zanddijk?)
