What kind of activity was behind these constructions?

#1

I found several of these constructions in a wood near Herentals (Belgium).
Can someone tell what they were intended for?
Which kind of activities can one suppose behind those constructions? There are no other buildings in that wood, and the ones of the picture are about 600 metres from the nearest road.

TIA

Hello

It looks to me like ammunition storage - is there any indication of a field battery / or a defence position ( trenches ) or such like in the neibourhood ???

Here in Denmark i have seen something like it used for ammo, connected with trenches leading to either field artillery or flak positions ( open emplacements ) !!

No, as far as I know, there is nothing of all that: only the wood.

Hello

You have to think - "how did this area look like in 1940 - 1945" !! The wood was not there, maybe ?? So we could talk about a fairly open area, suitable for field artillery or such. The line of fire could be interesting - whats in range of, lets say - 10 to 20 kms. from that site ???

How are they positioned ( in a straight line or in a pattern, circle or what ) ?

How many are there, and how big is the area they are within ??

Maybe you can make a drawing / map !!

Regards

Thanks! Seems a good idea. I think I'll have to start some investiations.
Location of the constructions: N 51 12 24.49 E04 52 52.54
As far as I know, the wood has always been there (although it might have been less dense). There were strategic fightings at about 7 kilometers (Ten Aart, near Geel, Belgium: N51 12 09.4 E4 58 53.8).
The constructions: 4 are in line (about 300 metres between them), 4 others are not (2 by 2).
Not far from there, there is a rememberance sign: an airplane (Lancaster?) crashed there in 1942. The sign gives the names of the crew members.
