are some photo's from Schartenbunkers from Spezia and Rimini and from "Herring" I recieved
a photo of a Schartenstand near Cavalinno . On Ulstein Bild I found this photo from bunkers at
Viareggio . Who can help me and thanks in advance.

Hi Jos,
I tried to search an Italian site, on wich they do research to the german units stationed in Italy but there have seem to be no M.A.A.'s in Italy during W.O. II, but I took a look in Feldgrau some time ago and they state that there were M.A.A.'s in Italy.
here they are: (maybe missed some!!!!!!!)

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 520
Formed 2.41 in Pillau for Greece. 3.41 to Plovdiv (Bulgaria), and 7.41 to Crete, now with 2 companies. 1944 had 7 batteries. Reorganised 12.44, now with Stab and 6. - 12./MAA520 on Crete.
Subordinated to Seekdt. Kreta, and from 12.44 Festung Kreta.

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 540
Formed 2.44 in Zara/Dalmatien for the Adriatic islands Raab and Lossen. Disbanded 11.44 after the evacuation, and all personnel went to Marine-Schützen-Bataillon 581. Subordinated to Seekdt. Norddalmatien.

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 616
Formed 7.43 for the Messina strait, but instead transferred to Elba. 20.6.44 to La Spezia with 5 batteries.
Subordinated to Deutsches Marinekommando Italien, and from 1944 Seekdt. Italienische Riviera.

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 619
Formed 10.43 in Genoa from Gruppe Genoa/MAA622 with 13 batteries (1-11, 13, 14).
Subordinated to Seekdt. Italienische Riviera.

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 621
Formed 2.41 for Greece (1./MAA621 from 1./MAA205). In 6.41 moved to Phleves/Attika with 2 batteries. Disbanded 12.42, and the batteries became Bttr. Tirpitz and Bttr. Breslau in 1943.
Stab/MAA621 was reformed 9.43 in Constanza (Romania) and moved to Pola in Italy, controlling some independent Italian coastal batteries.
Subordinated to Seekdt. Attika, and from 9.43 Seekdt. Istrien.

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 622
Formed 9.43 in La Spezia. Italian batteries(?). Remained in La Spezia until the end.
Subordinated to Seekdt. Italienische Riviera.

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 626
Formed 5.44 in Trieste (Stab only) from Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung X. Controlled Italian batteries(?).
Subordinated to Seekdt. Istrien

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 628
Formed 5.44 in Split (only Stab) from Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung Y. Controlled Italian batteries(?).
Subordinated to Seekdt Süddalmatien

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 632
Formed 10.43 in Venice (Lida) with 8 batteries and the Italian batteries Mirano, Villa Franca, La Giare and Erasmo. In 3.44 divided into MAA632, MAA633 and MA634. All were united again in 10.44 as MAA632. In 1.45 consisted of Gruppe Cortelazzo, Cavallino, Lida and Chioggia.
Subordinated to Seekdt. Westadria

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 633
Formed 3.44 in Venice (Chioggia) with 3 batteries from parts of MAA632. In 10.44 absorbed by MAA632.
Subordinated to Seekdt. Westadria

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 634
Formed 3.44 in Venice (Cavallino) from parts of MAA632. In 10.44 absorbed by MAA632.
Subordinated to Seekdt. Westadria

Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung X
Formed 3.44. In 5.44 became MAA626 in Trieste

And of the H.K.A.R. I only found that there were H.K.A.R. stationed, but Feldgrau did not filled in this part of the site so the
Heeres-Küstenartillerie-Reg Littoria was the only thing i could find by name.

but not only in Italy there were M.A.A.'s but also in Greece, Albania, Ukraine, Letland and North Africa.
so if you have a camper, the best time to visit Greeceand North Africa is in the winter and Albania, Ukraine and Letland in the summer.

We my brother and i will probably go to Rimini and Bologna to visit the World Ducati Weekend (we both drive Ducati's) so maybe i can visit some german batteries there.............

Gothic line also shows quite interesting.

This is semi-commercial site, but gives a rather lot information regarding the defensive line. According to the modern day pictures, there is quite lot to see:
