hi peter,
i'm not sure the concrete shelter at WN 33h is for a goliath..
it could likely be a box to store the wooden beams for the old waterbarrier (sluis/ waterkering) thats nearby.
the BRV did not measure it ether.
maybe the kampfanweisung gives some anwers?

at stutzpunkt clingendael there was a wooden ''garage'' for multiple goliats in the haagse bos.
the complex was manned by waffen SS and the goliath would most likely have served to protect one of the entrances of the stp. gr. against tanks or infantry.

As Tim said, the Goliaths were also used in The Hague along the road nearby the entrance of the Sperrgebiet of Stutzpunkt Clingendael, between the Maliebaan and Haagse Bos. The Goliaths were placed at both sides of the road with 3 or 4 wooden shelters and were camouflaged with grass. Enclosed is a map (made by the resistance) with the locations of the Goliaths.

By the way, there were also some Goliaths in the area of Kijkduin.

And last a piece of documentation from the resistance (for the Dutch folks) which talks of shelters made of earth containing 1 Goliath thank.

I have a photo of some American Soldiers very probably on Utah Beach. I know Golaiths were used here but the photo is of a Renault UE ! The caption of the back says as below.
Remote control German tank loaded with explosives 1944,
Does anyone know of any evidence of Renault UE adapted for this role, or a more likely a wrong caption?

Hi @ndrew,

It looks like it, but i have no idea if this is the case.
I don't even know if it is German, it could be that it was constructed after the war.

But it is in a place where a Wn. was situated, and Goliaths where in place there.

Annelies

Hi Annelies and others,

To clear up a question about the long concrete storage room. It is definitely, as Tim also said, post war. It belonged to the Oranjesluis and was for the storage of the wooden poles that could close up the waterlock. So that explains the length.
I have also always hoped/dreamed it was for the goliath, or as far as my imagination goes, 'many goliahts'
