Hi Matti

The gun on your photo looks like a 15 cm Kanone 39 .

Not so sure about that Jos....
I would go for a 15cm sFH 18!

Hi Erik

I am not sure , I was going for the wheels .
At first I thought the 17 cm , but it could also
be the 15cm sFH 18 , but the barrel looks
longer on the photo.

Hi All

I must be honest , I changed my first post ,
first I thought it was a 17 cm Kanone , but the
form of the wheels did not fit and it missed a
piece of iron underneath the barrel .
But I would still go for the 15 cm Kanone 39.

but the barrel looks longer on the photo.
Think youre right! "My gun" only have 4,5 meter long barrel, which is far to short.

Ian Hogg says only 40 K39 guns were made, so this is a really rare piece then!
According to the same book, all guns were made for Turkey, but they were given to Wehrmacht instead at the outbreak of the war.

Perhaps someone will have a go on this unknown artillery piece?

If you wish, here is another look at the gun, the image is much larger. http://efour4ever.com/15cm_kanone39.htm

What level of confidence do you apply to the id of the gun as a 15 cm Kanone 39 to be correct?

thx- Matti

Hi Matti

I can't be 100 % sure about the gun on the photo.
The wheels have round holes ( so not 15 cm K 18 ) and you
can see the spades of the gun trails , so it has not a traversing
platform as the ( so not 17 cm K 18 ) , my guess is 75 % sure
a 15 cm K 39 . Maybe Tom from Hamburg has a opinion ?
Also very nice is the wooden protection around the recoil mechanisem

Hello Comrades

Yep I think you are right jopaerya. It sure looks like an 150mm K 39. This picture of an assured one which might help for the comparison:

It was the only picture I was able to find of it.

So that's what it was... I had a hard time trying to relate it to the K 39 because of this.

Maybe a Belgian 7.5cm field gun (ex WWI German piece) with pneumatic tires and captured by the Germans in May 1940...

Thanks for information. Do you know about any pictures online of this Gun? Sadly this is the only picture I have of this gun, the rest is of K331's.

Valtoro.

Could it be a captured Norwegian 7.5 cm feltkanon m/01?

Hi Valtoro

I don't think that it is a norwegian 7.5 cm feltkanon m/01 , because
the distance between the end of the barrel and the recoil device is to
small , please see your photo .
The curve on the top of the gunshield is typical 75 Mle Gp 11 (belgian)
or 7,5 cm F.K. 16 n. A.

Regards Jos
