Hello,
That's quite a good achivement since there were only 24 of these guns in the French army in 1940.
The 155mpm GPFT (Touzard carriage = version with 4 pneumatics) of the 155mm GPF) was one of the most modern French guns in 1940 with the 105mm L Schneider Mle1936. This gun was towed by the Laffly S35T truck.
Canon de 155 mm GPFT L/38 (Grande Puissance FILLIOUX – Touzard carriage)
Type : field gun
Crew : 10 men
Caliber : 155mm
Weight in action : 12200 kg
Elevation : 0° to +39°
Traverse : 60°
Rate of fire : 2-3 rpm
HE Shell
Maximum range : 21000 m
Projectile weight : 43 - 45 kg
V° : 735 m/s
Regards,
David

Hi Jos,
Well I don't know exactly then ... what is sure is that only 24 of these guns were mobilized/on active duty in May-June 1940.
Were more of these guns available somewhere, or just carriages for a future transformation of GPF in GPFT ? Did the production run under German occupation ? I don't know.
Regards,
David

I doubt that the Germans would have diverted valuable resources (steel, …) to maintain production of the GPF-T guns in occupied French factories. They had production lines in occupied France for instance for trucks (e.g. Renault), liaison aircraft (Me 108) and some aircraft engines.
It is more probable that there were several GPF-T carriages in various steps of production, some even already finished but not delivered to front-line units, and it could explain the possible 50 units.
Does anybody know the quantities of GPF-T ordered by the French Army and/or the production rate until June 1940 ?
Emmanuel
