Hi all,

I found on Ebay this curious image of two 24cm K3 barrel trailers.
Does anyone have any idea about where the image was taken? The flags seem Hungarian

IIRC, Hungarian Regent Miklós Horthy visited Germany in August, 1938 - he participated in launch of heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen. May be this photo was taken during parade dedicated to his visit?

Best regards, Aleks

Hi Aleks,

Ummhhh....I'm not sure the 24cm K3 gun were already in service in August, 1938. :?
Does anyone know when this gun came into service?

Hi Sturm 78,

by chance I came to this site this morning and read Your question.
Here is the answer: the gun was introduced in 1938. (Source of this information: "Die deutschen Geschütze 1939 - 1945" by F. M. von Senger und Ettelin.
And here a pic of a 24cm K3 barrel trailer (source: expired ebay auction).

Regards

Bert

bo. = bodenständig (battery is immobile, only some horses or motor vehicles for supply)

i'm sorry, my mistake , Org.Abt. didnt use bo. in the creation order for 1123

but the battery had only 2 trucks, 1 car and 1 motorcycle

so maybe the mobility were guaranted through kraftzugstaffel west (was created at the same day as 1123)
did anybody have more infos about it?

thanks uwe

It also meant (in the Atlantikwall) that a gun had to remain in its place, even when the division that was defending that coastalsector was transferred or replaced.
Many of these weapons were handled by Festungsstammstuppen, and these were not part of a division but were under command of the division that occupied the specific coastline.
The Festungsstammtruppen had special training in the weapons used in fortifications.
