The battery was bombarded heavily, i don't think they could fire a single shot that same day...

By the way, for the battery Brasilia, i think there where other bunkers too, then only 3x612... perhaps an 668 and one 612 under construction... does anyone know? (see this aerial)

I think this could be the layout of the bunkers in HKB "Brasilia"... I'm not shure for the type 668.

Gary, it's in youre backyard, take a shovel (or bulldozer) and start digging dude I think "Brasilia" could be a nice addon for the Maisy-battery.

there are also two barracks, a brunnen ; a Zisterne , a roadblock , one Tobruk is for observation and has even a telephone inside, Two years back the 622 was accesible

Hello, I have done also some "reseach".

In july 2003 the Maisy Battery was visited by members of Bunkersite.com (I have spoken the webmaster). They have taken beautiful photo's: http://bunkersite.com/locations/france/ ... ruques.php

One thing that was strange was the first picture of the 502 bunker: http://bunkersite.com/locations/france/ ... ques-1.php

When you take a look in the book of Gary you see exact the same picture.

I put the picturest next to each other and I see no difference.

So, the picture in Gary's book is actualy the picure from bunkersite.com ??

...Its interesting that when I dug the site up I removed over 2 metres of soil in some areas. When I asked the locals when the site was covered it was mainly done in 1945/46 for farming. Did you guys visit it before the buildings were covered in 1945 or did you just visit the buildings which were not covered up for the last 60 years. Lets be honest 2 of the 155mm pits were in over a metre underground - you didnt see them did you? Show me a photograph of the pit with the swivel plate mount on taken before this February... you wont be able to. So lets be honest. You visited the site as it was and not as it is now! When it opens come and have a look and see what you missed because it was 2 metres down !...

As you can see in the picures below, taken at june 11, 1947 the pit (and the rest) was clearly visible..

I was in Normandië last week, first time since 2004.. There is a lot chanched, many new monuments, walking paths (and barbwire) and quite a few new museums that were not there last time..

It really is turned in to a mass tourism thing. Understandable, but it has a strange feeling to it..

When i was at Point du Hoc, I stumbled on the same frame as is seen here at the maisy batterie picture posted by karltrowic
Did the 2 batteries had the same guns?

No you can see a difference in the pivot. The guns of Pointe du Hoc were 15.5cm K 418(f) of HKAA 1./1260.

Watched the Discovery serie "Secret Nazi Bases", the episode only about Maisy. Mr. Sterne told the same story as here and in his book. Found a map in a uniform, PdH a "fake" battery, etc.
Does a channel like Discovery don't do any research by itsef?
