Belgische Rollböcke in Norway?

#1

Post by Valtoro » 05 Mar 2006, 00:43

In the very large collection of German minefield reports in the Norwegian State Archive, I came across a Sperrenplan that had something that looked like a "Belgische Rollböcke" (Belgian Gate) as a obstacle in a Gulley in Brekke, Vestfold (southern Norway). The Sperrenplan showed a structure very similar to a Belgian Gate in front. Was this kind of obstacle employed in Norway? I don't have a copy of this Sperrenplan.

The Germans captured a lot Belgischer ture in Belgium and France, so why not transfer them to Norway??
In France and Belgium the Belgischer Rollbocke were widely used, but in Holland, Germany's Northsea (Wadden) coast, Danmark and Norway the use was probably limited, I know of one manufacturer in Paris.

Hello

I have never seen any remains, or pictures for that matter, of this type from Denmark.

So I dont think they were ever used in DK ?

Hello Valtoro

It's a Rollböcke , I heard from Peter de Laet a specialist on Sperre's
your one is a original French one , because it is missing the extra
bars in front of the Rollböcke against troops .

Thanks again!

This could btw be the location for the Rollböcke (I'm not 100% sure)

Hi All
is there any plans of the Rollböcke showing difference of the types. Including size of "L" steel used. I have seen drawings of the overall size but not the size of actual steel used.

Hello!
I am quite sure that this model was used at Bremnes ("Brömsneset") too.

Hello
Added two drawings. Also from the archive. Used at a very narrow road with concrete added on each side to make one of these to fit.
Described as fahrbare panzersperre.
