Re: Unknown Ringstand.
Hi,
if this is BRV 39
the position looks like a "Vorgeschobender Beobachter" (scout/spotter)
where are the other ones?

No divisionsartillery, but in fact 2 X HKB was at the site for more than a year in preliminary positions.do you have divisionartillery nearby that tobruk?
On a map i found the site marked with the sign as seen below. There is nothing else besides the ringstand on that site, but im not sure if the sign is for the ringstand.
Ill get som pictures tomorow.

Hi stril,
Thanks for sharing. The sign is unknown to me as well, a WAG for the Ringstand is a SMG, a WpG or a small searchlight.

Could it be for a 5 cm mortar which could fire a star shell?

Re: Unknown Ringstand.
F.P. means Feste Punkt ( fix points ) so it must be part of a German minefieldmap , this could be the tobruk
or something else that could also explains the tactical sign ?? For the tobruk that is a other quistion , but the
search is on .

Re: Unknown Ringstand.
Just a thought. A tripwire along the boundary of a minefield, that would trigger a flare is not an uncommon configuration.
