Literature about Hungarian small arms

Post by Alatassa » 09 Jul 2019 12:20

Hi!

Besides the excellent "A király géppisztoli" are you aware of any book dealing with Hungarian firearms in depth? I'm specially interested in Solothurn 31.M and Schwarzlose 07/31.M but any reference dedicated to Hungarian rifles or pistols would be very welcome too.

I'm going to Hungary for a few days at the end of July. Are you aware of any private museum or collection that I shouldn't miss?

Thank you very much!

dont miss the Museum of Military History (Hadtorteneti Muzeum) at the top of buda castle, plenty to see there!
give yourself at least 3.5 hours to visit all the halls.

I strongly agree with Xavier, it's an excellent museum! As far as online sources go, this is a pretty good site:

Hello,

enjoy your stay :) If you only have a few days, start in the Military Museum in Budapest.

A huge collection of "everything" is located in Kecel:

The
There is also a small colection at Zamardi:

And Szekszard:

Imho this is the best online source, at the moment:

Romsitsa, the last site noted appears to be incomplete. There isn't any available information on rifles when I looked. Do you know if it offers information on Hungarian rifles (like the 31M, 35M and 43M)?

Thank you,
Pat

Hello Pat,

the site was last refreshed years ago, but I hope it will continue to grow someday. There are still no articles on war rifles, but there is a very complete section on the Solothurn and Frommer, Alatassa was looking for.

Adam,
I see, thank you. The cartridge section (8X56R and 7.92X57) was also very thorough.
