Long time since I posted this.
Since then a very nice book about FN Browning pistols was published: "FN Browning Pistols - Sidearms that shaped World History" by Anthony Vanderlinden. It has a very detailed chapter on the FN 1903 pistol as well as other classic FN Browning pistols. It worths every penny:

Hi,

This sample of you picture seems to be really petculiar cause the grip-plates are shorter model like for those made with holsterstock. Normally FN MLe 1903 which is manufactured without stock would have longer plates covering hole grip and it should have also proper cut for lanyard ring.

Some time ago you referred to Werner Molders getting a gold plated PPK...can you tell me where that information came from ? I have a vested interest as I possess that gun. Thanks
