The Germans had a Dreyse water cooled MG in WWI, and I have found a reference to it on the ATF Curio and Relics list as being the Model 1918, although I haven't heard it called that at any MG shoots.

It was not a front line, standard issue gun, and there was an air-cooled version.

There is a very limited article and a few other pictures published in German Machineguns, by Musgrave. This is the lightened version on an MG08/15 bipod, but they were most often tripod (lafette) mounted.

Images of the gun. If you are looking for photos of the weapon being used, I *might* have photo of the weapon being used in assault position. Let me know, and I''ll try to remember to look for it....

My apologies -- somehow I mis-read what you were looking for.... And I assume you're not referring to the 08/18 air-cooled variation of the 08/15)?

From this site - http://world.guns.ru/machine/mg62-e.htm
"By the early 1930s Rheinmetall had modified the 1918 pattern “Dreyse” LMG into a magazine fed, light machine gun which was known as Gerat 13 (device 13)."
