Was the Gewehr 43 a good rifle?

Well, here in brasil police can cary guns larger than .380ACP (i'm a "policial civil" and carry a .45 Millenium and a .380 PT92 as backup) and it' amazing that you can fink G98K in use in my state "Policia Militar". About G-43 i read it jammed alot because of it's poor gas action bolt.
