What is the best weapon from the 2. World War

I think it is the Karabiner 98 or the Sturmgewehr 44

I'll vote for the mg 42, but Rommel would have voted for his 88's.

This is discussed before. Several veterans told me they didn't like the Stg. 44 at all. They were out of ammo to fast, due to it's high rate of fire, and prefered the common Kar 98 K.

But a Kar 98 K (Kurz) is not such a good weapon to make assaults or ? In that case a MP ( Mp 40/43) would be better or dont you think so.. !?

But the question was not "what's the best assault weapon"

Hi!

"Of all infantry weapons, the Sturmgewehr was the only one which always worked unobjectionably in Russia´s dirt, cold and snow-dust, had no misfires and was resistant to stoppages."
A German report at The Encyclopedia of Infantry Weapons of WWII by Ian V. Hogg

IMO, the best weapon wasn't German but American :D :D :D

As far as which "German" weapon was the best, I'd say the Sturmgewehr. The K98 was only a 5 shot clip and bolt action at that.

As far as which one "looked" cool, I'd say the Luger. I've always loved lokking at those things, they're pieces of art!!!

you´re right, but is a good weapon not an assault and defense weapon at the same time !?

A weapon how is good at both is for me a very good weapon.

Thats my point of view.
:D

AFAIK the Stg also had single shot mode, so I don´t consider it as a weapons "fault" if the ammo is spend too fast.

Okay, seems the discussion assumes that ammo supply was still excellent at this late stage of the war. In that case the Stg.44 was wonderfull.

...Seems they never told the men of SS AA 1 about that feature

In short: when Kampfgruppe Knittel saw first action on 18.12.1944, the men who had the Stg.44 were allready out of ammo at the end of the day, cursed their Sturmgewehre and wished they had been issued the good old Kar98k. They had to do without ammo for another five days.
