K98 bayonet
K98 bayonet
Hi guys, I purchased a K98 bayonet recently. Trying to find more info on it. Is it genuine? It does have some numbers stamped on it but I haven't been able to make much sense of them yet. It has some really small numbers/letters on the end of the pommel too but I can hardly make them out. Also it doesn't appear to have a makers mark stamped on the blade, is this unusual? Could it be fake? Any info would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

It also has these two really small stamps on the pommel which are hard to even make out
Re: K98 bayonet
If markings in the pommel area is WaA20 ( Waffenamt code ) it's a legit KAR 98K bayonet, from Gustav Appel of Berlin-Spandau.
Use a magnifying glass to confirm the code.

Re: K98 bayonet
The serial number on the pommel indicate Portuguese contract bayonet.

Re: K98 bayonet
Think it is Waffenamt code WaA20. So that means it's a Gustav Appel bayonet? Glad it is genuine at least! I was wondering what the E14805 code was...thought it may of been a soldiers army number or something? Ah ok could well be a Portuguese contract edition then..as I can't see any makers mark on it at all..other than the Waffenamt code. I managed to get a genuine frog for it too

In agreement with Richie B as a Portuguese 1937 contract bayonet that was made in Germany. With the Waffenamt that I've seen on them being a WaA253. Best Regards, Fred
