Can anyone provide information on this 1940 WWII Mortar? I would like to know what was attached on the opposite side of the deflection handle next to the tube? Was it a sight? Perhaps a range card of some type? If possible I would like to source that item to make my display complete. I would also like to know what information was provided on the data plate besides the date and serial number. Like pehaps who the manufacturer was. Any pictures of a complete mortar or a mortar team in action would be most appreciated! Thank you.

Sorry - never seen such website on this side of "the bond". Basically all 50-mm mortars that our military (Finland) had it in its inventory (1,269 pcs) were exported to United States (by Interarmco) in year 1960. Since only a handful of them was left for museums, there are no 50-mm mortars or their parts in market here. We have occational deactivated 81-mm and 82-mm mortar re-appearing in collector's market, but that's it.htguy wrote:Jarrko, do you know anybody who might be able to resource an original site and mount ..or could you point me in the direction of any websites overseas that I might possibly peruse?

Thank you for your help and the picture. It's a great start and at least gives me an idea of what I'm looking for. I collect and restore military vehicles and some small arms. I served for a brief time on a reciprocating tour in Norway while in the US Army. I enjoyed my time there and the winter Infantry training with the Norwegian Army was excellent. Here is a pic of one of my vehicles that I recovered from east Africa. A 1943 US M16A2 WWII Half track complete and all original to include it's antiaircraft quad mount turret.
Best wishes,
Mark
