Hi,
I don´t know, but what I see is wall of rock/soil, which has carved to get space for the road. The vertical thing behind the man, with his hand in the mouth looks like a tree. Now I ask, what is happening there? Black market gun sale? lol

After 33 years in the military, this looks to me to be the annual inspection and accountability/serviceability inspection of weapons, called IG inspection in the US Army. Alternatively it could be a change of command inspection where the new commander must see all unit property prior to signing for such equipment. The presence of an officer in the photo and the way the weapons are displayed would lend credence to the former.

They also seem to be members of the Luftwaffe and with the bayonets on the table as well, ground crew sidearms maybe.

Am I correct to assume that the Luftwaffe officer is a Waffenmeister with the rank of Waffen-Oberleutnant? Note his Militärverwaltungs collar tab, which is different with the usual winged Luftwaffe tabs.
