The efforts of Česká Zbrojovka, a. S. In Strakonice to succeed with semi-automatic pistols in foreign markets were not very successful in the interwar period. One of the reasons was the high market saturation and in many countries the factory had to take into account domestic competition. Poland was one of the few countries to which it delivered semi-automatic pistols. From 1926, when a special commission of the Ministry of Military Affairs completely rejected the introduction of the revolver as a uniform type of small arms, the Strakonice armory offered the Polish army not only the vz. 24. The design of the designer František Myška offered the advantages of a revolver trigger mechanism, but the Polish side did not care about them. However, the Polish Ministry of the Treasury showed interest in the Strakonice pistols in 1928, which at the end of the year ordered 730 pistols and 230 holsters in the armory for its border guard. The subject of the order, however, were not vz. 24, but the variant referred to as vz. 28. It differed from the conventional design mainly by the longer handle and the nine-round magazine. Removable wooden holsters with the function of an add-on stock were offered by the armory with vz pistols. 24, but were never mass-produced. Another 1,000 vz. 28 was ordered by the border guards in January 1930, and the third consignment with 800 pistols was ordered in March 1931. It was sent to the Border Guard Headquarters in Warsaw. In total, Česká zbrojovka delivered to Poland, including samples of 2,549 vz. 28, but only 230 guns from the first order had a replaceable stock. From another unfinished, but unrealized contract, there were still 743 pistols in the armory, which in the following years were successively sold to the Czech financial guard. A rare specimen with a removable wooden butt was acquired by the museum in 1994 by transfer from Prototypy, a. S. Brno.
