Post by reichpapers » 29 May 2002 14:55

I am looking for someone who is familiar with (and lives in any of the countries who used) the below rifle:

Mosin Nagant M44 Carbine
Poland
Romania
Hungary

I am trying to find the factory names, years of service, marking/proof mark information information, or anything else.

A rugged reliable rifle that kicks like a son of a gun!

:P These rifles (I own a Romanian one) are an interesting one. Like Ken says the recoil and flash are quite heavy. As for accuracy, 50 yards is good; 100 yards is tolerable but beyond that you probably couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. The gun weighs about the same as the M91/30 but is about a foot shorter. Over all compared to a K98 it is much less accurate and less reliable. I feel kind of sorry for anyone whose life depended on one of these little gizmos, but it still is fun to shoot.
