How many Kar-98Ks had this white painjob on them and what units were they issued too

I would think that many of them would have been painted 'privately', probably in local paint, or in whitewash left-overs...

Yeah, definately a field conversion (much like other forms of camoflage).

:roll: The gun in this picture is not a K98.It is a CZ 24,the major difference is that the handguad extends beyond the rear sight.This is a Czech gun taken into German service,I beleive it was call a T24 by the Germans.They bent down the bolt handles and changed the sling mounts to the K98 style.The guns look guite the same ,so it is easy to mistake the T24 for being a K98k.

Many of the Wehrmacht units on the Ost front especailly. Any useage of white wash, white cloth, etc...... was used.

Looks to me and this is a wild guess, the chap in the pic is from a Gebirgsjäger unit ? ..... ski polls or possibly an instructor... ?
