Were there any geballte ladungs made up of one ordinary stielhandgranate and several eggshaped handgrenades?

Hi Charlie

In answer to your question both Eierhandgranaten and Stielhandgranaten could be used.

In "Small Arms, Artillery And Special Weapons Of The Third Reich" An Encyclopedic Survey, by Terry Gander and Peter Chamberlain, there are two photos showing the two variations of Gebalte Ladung.

Version one comprises a complete stick grenade with six standard warheads attached, and the other shows a Gebalte Ladung being made up from a complete stick grenade with six Dutch egg grenades being attached.

I will try and attach the two photos for you.

Regards

Bob

Thanks Robert, your answers are always interesting! The reasons I asked this was due to a picture by Ron Volstad showing a fallschrimjäger carrying on of these grenade bundles. Do you know the ISBN for the book by Gander and Chamberlain?
