Not quite sure of the Germanic roots of this Schwarzlose wielding dog of war since he's out of uniform and the group in the back is a bit nondescript. Photo from exp.eBay.de.

Re: Photos - Germans with captured firearms
The photo of the German using the scoped Enfield is pretty cool and uncommon.

I''m sure this has been asked before but I don't know how to search for the answer here - my question:
This has to be one of the most posted pictures ever and I wonder if anyone knows the ID of this trooper? Where was the photo made and did he survive the war?
Many thanks for any and all answers.

Re: Photos - Germans with captured firearms
I suggest you look into the 'After The Battle' magazines, specifically the Battle Of The Bulge editions. I think it is Jean Paul Pallud who does a complete write up about all the photos taken and filming done, most of which was staged or in downtime.
I know the writeup is in the main Battle Of the Bulge book but whether it is in one of the magazine I can't remember.
Don't know if any of the soldiers are identified but the left photo mainly shows Luft personnel, i.e. the two in front, while the photo at right is a mixture of Luft and SS.
There is no doubt a whole bunch of then and now stuff is all over the internet with Google Earth markers etc.
Edit:
Here's some stuff I just found:
