#1

Post by Elwyn W » 14 Jan 2013, 05:41

As usual I am struggling to put first names to laufbahn and promotion dates.

I am interested in 3 of of them:

GenMj Anton Karl Paul 1836 - 1931
GenLt Paul 1850 1909
GenMj Walter 1857 1945

I have information on two:

ObstLt 14.05.94 L
Obst 22.03.97 G2g
GenMj 16.06.00 A ..... Anton Karl Paul or Walter?
Kmdr Husaren Rgt Nr 17 94 - 98; 16 Kav Brig 99 - 91

ObstLt 18.07.96 M
Obst 25.03.99 H
GenMj 19.06.02 F
Char als GenLt 20.03.06 .... so this was Paul?
Kmdr Leib Garde Husaren Rgt; 33 Kav Brig 02; Kmdt v Breslau 06

I can't find anyhting on the thrid one.

Cheers
Elwyn

Thank you, Glenn.

I did see the Ldw BzKmdr Oldenburg but made the careless mistake of associating the position with the "youngest" -- RW or Austrian or Tannenburg (??) Gustav Adalbert 1884 - 1945. Of course a person born in 1884 would never be Mj 27.10.02 Tt or Char als GenMj 20.03.06.

Gustav Adalbert was not in Keilig, Sammlung Krug or Kabisch. Rather elusive.

Elwyn,

yes, Gustav-Adalbert was still an Oberleutnant at the outbreak of WW1. He spent much of the war in various General Staff appointments, although he briefly served as a company commander in Füslier-Regiment Nr. 33 in May to July 1916. He retired as a char. Major on 31 July 1922.

According to Genealogisches Handbuch des Adels & Volksbund:

Gustav Adalbert Karl Max Ernst von Wallenberg
* 02.08.1884 Klötzen/Kreis Marienwerder/Westpreußen
† 26.04.1945 Reservelazarett 112 Berlin (gefallen)

there, it is claimed that he was Oberst i. G. and (later) Volkssturmmann. He received the DKiS on 10.01.1944 as Oberst i.G. z.V. and Chef d. Gen.St. LXXX. AK.

A promotion to Generalmajor is unknown to me as well. Being killed during the battle of Berlin is quite an unusual turn of events for a high–ranking officer — I couldn't find any ties with the Widerstand. Apart from those, Wallenberg was Erich von Falkenhayn's nephew and worked as Geschäftsführer of the "G. v. Pachaly's Enkel" Bank in Berlin.
