He was Stab Kaiser Franz Garde GR 2 just before the war and finished as Kmdr 197 ID.
Is he the same man as what is posted as Kmdr RIR 31?

Yes, he commanded RIR 31 from the mobilisation and then became commander of 5. Garde-Infanterie-Brigade on 25 Sep 1916. He commanded in turn 197. Infanterie-Division from 13 Jul 18, 50. Infanterie-Division frm 7 Nov 1918 and finally 5. Garde-Infanterie-Brigade again from 2 Jan 1919.
