My votes with Falkenhayn, he was pragmatic and unsderstood the problems of the war slightly better than the others, he was the only German general who udenrstood that total victory was unattainable.

In reality did not Luddendorf use Hindeburgs prestige as a cloak for him being the real person on command?

Hindenberg was capable, but I think Luddendorf was clever enough to use Hindenberg's prestiege to give him more clout.

I think that Ludendorff probably played a bigger role in strategy but Hindenburg still played a large role himself.

None of them can hold a candle to Moltke the elder,but he was pre WWI of course.

Yes he certainly was a good general, Franco Prussian war was a master stroke. Considering how stretched the German army was with the wo sieges its remarkable they held through to victory. A bit off topic though

Yes! I agree Moltke the elder was superior! And Shcileffen of course was a military genious. (If we are allowed to nominate pre-war generals.)
Otherwise Ludendorf is the general of choise.
