Hello, my name is Christine and I am very sorry In advance if I have posted this in the wrong area.
I have a relative who was in the German Army during WWI. All I know is he was apart of Infantry Regiment 150, company 3 and died in Field Hospital 283 April 1918 in France and is buried in St. Quentin.
Based off this minimal information, could someone tell me more about Ir. 150, co. 3, Field Hospital 283 and which battle he most likely was fatally injured in? I have been researching this for a year and come up with nothing. I'm very new to this search.
His name was Franz Leonczak, born in 1868, Neuvorwerk Krotoschin. Which raises another question for me, if the age was 20 to enter the military, being born in 1868 makes him a fairly old soldier in 1917. Is this uncommon?
Thank you kindly, Christine
WW1 Ir. NR 150

Franz Leonczak appears in the casualty lists several time. In 1916 he was seriously wounded:

Between late 1916 and the end of 1918 the casualty lists stopped providing unit information, but did include birthdates. There is a man with the same name and location born in 5.10.1894 also listed:

http://des.genealogy.net/search/show/7842959
http://des.genealogy.net/search/show/8004910
The latter entry states he died of wounds at about the same time as your relative. These four entries are also the only occurrence of this surname in the entire database.
Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 150 has a two volume regimental history, over 700 pages total, so among the more comprehensive ones.
