Imperial German Navy honour roll of war dead

#1

Post by gilly100 » 13 May 2018, 09:17

Hi
Has anyone viewed this Imperial Navy honour roll of German Great War dead and can they tell me what information is written against each man's name, such as ship, theatre of war and date of death? I believe it is in Sutterlin script, all 35,000 plus names. I am looking for casualties involved in the Gallipoli campaign from Nov 1914 until January 1916.
Thanks
Ian

Ian,

if you are referring to "Halbstocks die Flagge!", this deals solely with commissioned officers, aspirants officers and naval officials holding commissioned officer equivalent rank. It lists by rank alphabetically those individuals who were killed or died during the war. Although it does give the location of death, it does not for example list together those individuals killed in a specific theatre or location.

I have attached a sample page.

Regards
Glenn
