Critique of Solutions to Map Problems

Post by Hoplophile » 01 Jul 2018 13:50

A few days ago, I ran into a very nice description, written by Max Jähns, of the way that the elder Helmuth von Moltke critiqued solutions to map problems.

Here is the German original:

Here is my translation, into English, of the description:

This leads me to wonder if there are any similar descriptions out there, whether of thoughtful, open-ended critiques of the sort provided by Moltke or of the much (and justly!) maligned Patentlösung ("patented solution.")
