Mates,

I wonder if our German experts can add any more details on this German officer?

(born 1887 - ?) commissioned 4. Garde Regiment zu Fuß to Marine Infanterie in 1913 to Sonderkommando Türkei 1915-16 RTG 1916 to Capt France 1917 rtn Sonderkommando Pascha 1918 - The force in his hands to defend the path of Dar Samah (semakh) was 120 German and 80 Turkish soldiers There were also 8 machine guns and a cannon On September 25 the British attacked a cavalry brigade. After an hour and a half of heroic defense the Kaiserling platoon was completely destroyed or captured. (Sanders age.s.354) PoW 25-9-18

What Marine-Rgt. was he in 1913?
What unit did he serve with in Turkey 1915-16 (was he with one of the the ships sent to Turkey?)
Was there Marines with German Ships like the British?
What unit did he serve with in France 1916-17?
What unit did he go to with the Pascha Forces in Palestine 1918?

Any help here with the German officer lists would help. Thank you
S.B

Steve,
this is what I have on his career. I have nothing to indicate that he was a Graf.

Abaus,
Danke. I surpose these questions are still open? I notice you record he went back to Palestine Oct 1916? That surprised me as the main German units did arrive untill late 1917. So what did he do between Oct 1916 and his capture in Sept 1918. That leave only staff jobs with one of the HQs.Cheers

It doesn't answer your questions, but he's mentioned here briefly on pg. 21:
