Believed to be Albert Gayer. I see he is a three striper. Korvettenkpitän. so post late April 1916
3rd half-flotilla commander, later 3rd flotilla commander.

Update confirmed this instant it is indeed Albert Gayer

An important officer in the submarine war.

I found the Hamburg civil death notice ledger and it merely provides the address, time and cause of death-suicide. Nothing further. It was early in the morning BTW. Maybe Economic Depression related.
