Sylvester Garsztka

Leutnant Sylvester Garsztka flew with Jasta 31 from July to October 1918,gaining six official victories. I read somewhere that Garsztka flew for the newly formed Polish Air Force after WWI against the Red Russians and died in an accident. I need a detail of his life and adventures of this German flying ace. I thought the details was written in another air forum but I'm not sure. His parents were Prussians?

Hi Edward

I am rather certain it was an article about him in the late Cross & Cockade or early Over the Front. Search in their archives on the net. Or mail them.

He was born 31.12.1896 in Bromberg. He was l-WIA on 02.10.1918 and is listed in the PVL081118.

Well at least Sylvester Garsztka was not fighting against the Germans when he joined the newly formed Polish Air Force. He was flying and fighting against the Ukrainians in 1919. Well I know that the Germans didn't get along with the Poles after WWI.
