Mates,

Can you help find who this man is?

He is shown arrived from the Western Front in Palestine to the Ottoman Army and attached to the 21st Infantry Regt 7th Div in Oct 1917

see "Ottoman Army Effectiveness in World War I: A Comparative Study" By Edward J. Erickson

I can find no details on this officer, do your resources have anything on him?

Cheers

Mates,

The spelling may be my problem here. Erickson shows him as above, but other possible sources show him as;

Herrgott (Herott)

I did have him if correct as;

Herrgott (Herott) (Hergotte) Adolf LtCol to Maj Gen CofS 4th Army Sina cephesi Komutani 8th Ordu kurmayi 1918'de 4th Ordu Kurmay baskani (Sina's Officer Commander 8th Army Founding In 1918 the 4th Army Chief of Staff) 1917-1918 (1872 - 1957) Bavarian Pour le Merite to General Staff to Staff 6th Div 1914 to Staff 2nd Corps 1915 to Turkey 6-17 RTG 4-18 later WWII LtGen commander of the prisoners of war retired 1943 (not identified)?

So he is shown as a Staff officer to the Ottoman 8th Army during 1917 under Kress?

Can you confirm?

S.B
