Those Sammler.de photos are first-rate.

He's one he has enlarged;you can even identify the new painted scheme on the German helmets,introduced in July 1918.

moulded, what can you tell me abou t the captured british general reece? how was he captured? what happended to him after the war? anyone record what the conversation was like? great photo.

Joel,

the General's name was Brigadier-General Hubert Conway Rees, GOC 150th Brigade, 50th Division. He assumed command of the 150th Brigade in February 1918 and in May the brigade was occupying the Craonne Plateau. General Rees was captured on the 27th of May 1918 apparently too exhausted to continue after his HQ had been dispersed following German shelling and compelled to withdraw. He was repatriated in December 1918 and awarded a C.M.G. He retired from the army in 1922 and died in January 1948.
