Unknown Sleeve Insignia?

Hello all!

I've found what appears to be colonial insignia in use on the Western Front?

It's for a Vizefeldwebel, but as far as I'm aware this type of insignia was never used anywhere outside of Africa.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thank you for this! It does not mention the Western Front, which again stumps me in regard to this photo.
