Post by Douglas Jr. » 10 Nov 2003, 04:45

Hi everybody,

Can anyone tells me if the MArineschule in Kiel was already active before 1918?

Thanks in advance.

The Marineschule was founded 1850 in Stettin by the Prussian Navy.
November 01, 1866 the Marineschule moved to Kiel.
In 1872 the Marineakademie was founded, sharing the building with the Marineschule. In 1910 the Marineschule was moved to Flensburg-Mürwik, and stayed there since then. The Marineakademie was dissolved in 1919 with the treaty of Versailles, today the building serves as the parliament of Schleswig-Holstein.

Regards
Mark

Mark,

Thank you very much. I ordered a cap tally (mützenband) from the Marineschule Kiel and I was trying to date it correctly.

Wishes,

Douglas.
