7-Seeckt

I want to know who is this officer and if he's from artillery. Didn't artillery officers use a round point helmet?
Best regards.

I forgott to say:

OroK: you're right, I should have started that way.

AJK: the picture of Mackensen, Ludendorff, Hindenburg & Seeckt was taken in 1933 in the Tannenberg Memorial.
I think too that the Artillery Officer could be Friedrich von Scholtz.
Hope there's somebody who can confirm this.

Best regards to all! Chau!

You are very welcome!

FANGIO,

Do you know who is the Austro-Hungarian officer in your 1915 Hindenburg photograph?

Best Regards!

Hi Fangio,

Thanks for the supplementary information.

Since the photo was taken in 1933, we can rule out Friedrich von Scholtz as the mystery artillerist, since he died in 1927. Back to square one, I guess.

Hi,
Orok: I have no idea. The only one I can recognize is Hindenburg and Ludendorff. Can't help, sorry Orok.
AJK: so it's not von Scholtz. Do you have pics of the officers you listed so we can compare with the one on the photo? I don't know if I'm expressing well, hope you understand me.
Best regards.

Hi Fangio,

I know exactly what you mean, but I only have photos of a few of the listed Generals, and I have compared those already. Only von Scholtz came close. Of course, we are all assuming that the mystery General was a full Gen. der Art. He could only be a Generalleutnant, in which case the solution to the mystery becomes even more problematic.

Best wishes,

AJK

Do you know where I can track down more information on Gustav Scanzoni von Lichtenfels? (I'm researching his nephew at the moment, and his name came up through that.)

Thanks,

A likely candidate for the Artillery General would be Konstanz von Heineccius, commander of the 36th Division at Tannenberg.

Well done Moulded,

The Austro-Hungarian officer is indeed Hauptmann Moritz Fleischmann von Theissruck, the A-H liaison officer to the German Oberbefehlshaber Ost until the 29th of April 1917 when he became Chief of Staff of the 53rd Infantry Division. Promoted to Major on the 1st of August 1917.

See his portrait by Oskar Bruch here:

Hi M,

that old German script can be a bind :D

The General staff officer on the extreme left of the photograph is the then Hauptmann Alfred von Vollard-Bockelberg, a later Reichsheer and Wehrmacht General der Artillerie.

Glenn
