Post by Darren J. Whiteside » 23 Dec 2003, 03:53

Hello all,

I am trying to find the German Army/Corps/Division/Brigade that the 11th Bavarian Infantry Regiment belonged to during the opening phase of the war in August 1914. Can anyone give me a clue where this regiment saw action during this month as well? I would appreciate any help that I can get.

regards,

Darren

Darren,
The Regiment was part of the 12th Bavarian Brigade,6th Bavarian Division,3rd Bavarian Corps,6th Army.

Campaigned in Lorraine August 1914--fought at Prevecourt and Delme, crossing the French frontier on the 22nd August.Engaged on the 25th at Maixe, and north of Luneville early September.Near Champenoux during the attack on Nancy until the 11th September.

Was part of the force that captured St Mihiel and formed the famous salient in October 1914.
