Duties within a 'Abwicklungsstelle'

#1

Post by Darren J. Whiteside » 09 Feb 2004, 00:00

Hi,

Can anyone clarify what duties a person working in the 'Abwicklungsstelle' of a unit would perform? It translates as "processing office", but this does not give me a clear picture of what general responsibilities were performed there. A good example would be "Abwicklungsstelle I der bayerischen Flieger-truppe" (Processing Office I of the Bavarian Flying-Troop). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

regards,

Darren

Darren,

an "Abwicklungsstelle" was a small staff responsible for the dissolution/disbandment of a unit and in this case with specific responsibility for the Bavarian flying units.

Regards
Glenn

Thanks Glenn, that helps a great deal. Being that the dates given for the units in question were in the 1919-1920 time frame, it makes perfect sense that they were in the process of being disbanded.

regards,

Darren
