Another one from CORBIS:
Besides Hindenburg, who are the other officers with him?

St. Privat celebration

Post by Glenn2438 » 18 Mar 2004 07:17

Hi Fangio,

I cannot confirm who the uniformed officers are but the elderly gentleman with the beard is Major a.D. von Seel. He was the Field Marshal's one time company commander. The photograph was taken on the 18th of August 1918 at Beaumont when he visited his old regiment, the 3. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß on the occasion of the St. Privat celebration. The officer in the steel helmet is probably regimental commander Oberst Dietrich Milchling von Schönstadt. I believe the General with the OPLM to the left of Major von Seel is Generaloberst Max von Boehn, Commander of Heeresgruppe Boehn and also a former 3. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß officer.

Regards
Glenn

Thank you very much Glenn. I was wondering what was that old man without uniform doing there. Now I know. Thanks again.
Hope someone else can ID the ones left. I think this is wonderful pic, I really like it.
Best regards.

FANGIO
