Please help, this can't be von Richtofen!!!

Post by FANGIO » 05 Jun 2004 19:29

Both pics come from: http://www.germaniainternational.com

As you can see in the first one it says "Baron Manfred von Richtofen". I saw many pics of von Richtofen and I think for sure this is not him, but I can't remember who he really is. Can anybody ID this man? is he wearing the Plm? any other interesting info about him?

Regarding the 2nd pic, any idea who can he be? Is he a pilot?

Best regards.

Hi FANGIO,

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the second one is Hans Henning Freiherr von Grote.

He is the author of the book "Vorsicht! Feind hört mit!", for sale on the website you mentionned.

Albert Leo Schlageter

Post by Glenn2438 » 08 Jun 2004 19:09

Fangio,

The 2nd photograph appears to be of Albert Leo Schlageter, executed by the French on the 26th of May 1923.

Regards
Glenn

Fangio,

Sorry there about the mix-up about Schlageter. :?

Glenn,

Do you have any idea why Schlageter is featured in Henning's book? (Heaven't read it though, but at least his picture seems to be in it.) Was Schlageter involved in espionage in World War I?

Best regards,

Vlaanderen
