Assistants of von Schlieffen

#1

Post by elaine » 13 Jul 2004, 14:18

Does anyone know who assisted von Schlieffen while he was writing his Schlieffen-plan?

Or, in case he wrote it totally on his one, who assisted him in his military work (majors for example) during his life and was well-bonded with him? (Does anyone maybe know where to look for this kind of information?)
Another question: who was with von Schlieffen when he died january 4th 1913 in Berlin? (I know Wilhelm Friedrich von Hahnke, his son in law, was with him, but where there other people also?, again if you could only tell me where to look, that would be really nice).

Thank you!

Terence Zuber's Inventing the Schlieffen Plan: German War Planning 1871-1914 mentions the future WW1 German generals,Lieutenant-Colonel Freytag-Loringhoven, a Colonel Steuben and a Major Kuhl war-gaming with Schlieffen in 1905.

A May 2004 review of Zuber's work here:

A good reference on von Steuben as well:
