Here are some Russian generals who died:
Samsonov commited suicide as a result of the battle of Tannenburg
Kornilov KIA russian civil war
Killed by the Red army or Cheka (soviet secret police) Dukhonin, Rennenkampfn Ruzsky Yanushkevich and Admiral kolchak
died of age, illness or disease WW I or Russian civil war; Alekseev, Evert, Ivanov,Polivanov Admiral Von Essen
Also note the Cheka shot dozens perhaps hundreds of other Russian generals during and after the Russian civil war. Even if you served the red side if you lived long enough you were going to be shot by Stalin if you were an ex tsarist general.
