I have just completing a book on the Lusitania. It didnt mention what happened to the submarine that sank her. I know Schweiger was later killed in another boat. But what happened to U-20?

U20 was later blown up by a danish company and partly scrapped. Here is a pic of U20 as it looked after the crew had detonated torpedoes in the bow tubes.

Also see Fuerbringer: FIPS, Pen & Sword Books, UK 1999.

Werner Fuerbringer was IWO to Schwieger on the voyages prior to the "Lusitania" patrol and his memoir throws interesting light on Schwieger as a personality and on an incident contrary to the rules of war committed by Britain which may have fortified Schwieger's determination when the terrible moment came to make his debut upon the world stage.
