Re: Pour le mérite holders
Greetings,
I would hazard a guess at Friedrich von Gerok and indeed General von Linsingen. K.u.K. Feldmarschalleutnant Herbert Graf Herberstein at the extreme right.
Regards
Glenn

Hi,
I am finding it difficult to get certain precise information about PLM awardee Generalmajor Wilhelm von Groddeck. I would be grateful if someone could supply the exact promotion dates for Sekondeleutnant, Premierleutnant and Generalmajor, and (if possible), exact appointment dates in 1915 for QMG of Heeresgruppe Prinz Leopold and in 1918 for Governor of Festung Thorn.
1883: Sekondeleutnant
1890: Premierleutnant
12 Sep 1896: Hauptmann
18 Apr 1903: Major
22 Mar 1910: Oberstleutnant
27 Jan 1913: Oberst
1915: Generalmajor
Commands held during World War I
1 Oct 1912 - 2 Aug 1914: Commander, 36th (2nd West Prussian) Field Artillery Regiment
2 Aug 1914 - 7 Sep 1914: Quartermaster-General II, Eastern Front
7 Sep 1914 - 15 Sep 1914: Commander, 21st Field Artillery Brigade
15 Sep 1914 - 1915: Quartermaster-General, 4th Army
1915 - 28 Nov 1916: Quartermaster-General, Army Group Prinz Leopold
28 Nov 1916 - Dec 1918: Commander, 208th Infantry Division

Re: Pour le mérite holders
Hi,
I am having a hard time getting information about General der Kavallerie Friedrich Rüdiger von HERTZBERG. I cannot find a photo of him, and am also missing his promotion dates to:
?: Sekondeleutnant
?: Premierleutnant
?: Rittmeister
27 Jan 1896: Major
22 Apr 1902: Oberstleutnant
22 Apr 1905: Oberst
1 May 1909: Generalmajor
22 Apr 1912: Generalleutnant
?: General der Kavallerie
Also, from what I have been able to put together, he apparently transferred to the reserve on 18 February 1913, having commanded the Guards Cavalry Division, and was then recalled when WWI broke out. Can someone please provide the date of his recall and his first appointment during the war? (On 3 November 1914 he was appointed commander of the 11th Reserve Division).
Thanks,
AJK
