Could someone please let me know in which city Bavarian General der Infanterie Christoph Ritter von Kiefhaber died (in 1955, at the age of 99!)?

Thanks,

AJK

PLM awardee Generalleutnant Friedrich Kundt: I am looking for the exact dates of his promotion to Sekondeleutnant (1882), Premierleutnant (1891) and Oberst (1914).

Also, there seems to be a discrepancy in available resources regarding his command of the 60th Infantry Brigade. Möller-Witten’s 1935 two volume history of WW1 PLM winners shows Kundt as commanding the brigade from 1 June 1916 until his appointment to command the 115th Infantry Division in March 1918. However, several other sources, including the Stellenbesetzung der Deutschen Heere 1815-1939, Band 1 - 4 by Günter Wegner, show Oberst Hermann Rogalla von Bieberstein taking command of the 60th Infantry Brigade from Kundt on 10 November 1917. If this was indeed the case, what did Kundt command between 11/1917 and 3/1918? Wegner does not provide a command for Kundt in the aforementioned Stellenbesetzung.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Regards,

AJK

Hi Andris,

as we know, wartime appointments are notoriously difficult to pin down due to the destruction of much of the primary material. However, I would tend to go with Möller-Witten as he compiled his book before WW2 when those sources were still available. Hildebrand and Zweng concur with the 1 June 16 to 28 March 18 tenure as commander of 60. Infanterie-Brigade. In fact Möller-Witten states that General Kundt was commanding at the time of the battle of Cambrai (beginning 20 November and lasting until 7 December 1917).

16.11.82: Sekondelieutenant
27.09.91: Premierlieutenant

04.07.14: Oberst

One question: The officer (second from left side) on Foto 156 looks like later Genaral der Panzertruppe W.-K. Nehring!

A group shot of 2. Infanterie-Regiment around 1923. Oberst Wilhelm Reinicke to the Field Marshal's right and Oberst Robert Bürkner, Regimental commander and Generalmajor Hugo van den Bergh, Infanterie-Führer 1 to his left. The PLM holder in the second row is Hauptmann Heinrich Strack. The officer to his right does look like Nehring who was in the regiment at this time. The officer to Strack's left, I think is the later Generalleutnant Konrad-Oskar Heinrichs, the regimental adjutant.
